Begin Your Commission · Your Window

Tell us about
your window.

Every WindowMaps commission begins with a conversation. We’ll ask about the window, the room, the place you want to honor, and how you’d like the light to fall through it. From there, our in-house art team designs — and if you have artwork of your own (an EPS, an SVG, a sketch), we’ll work from that instead.

How a commission unfolds

Five weeks,
start to installed.

No configurators, no rush. Each commission is a small, considered project — guided by a single point of contact from the first email to the final clean-up.

A studio writing desk in late afternoon light — open notebook with handwritten window measurements, a fountain pen, a vinyl edge swatch, brass desk lamp. Week 1 of a WindowMaps commission.
01.

The conversation

A call or email exchange. We learn the window — its size, its light, the room it serves, what you currently see when you look at it, and what you’d rather. We discuss whether you want one of our eight starting cities, a place we’ll custom-map for you, or a vector file you already have.

A designer at a drafting table refining a vector city map on a large display — paper proof with red pencil marks beside the keyboard, brass-tone overlay on the screen. Weeks 2 to 3 of a WindowMaps commission.
02.

The design

Our in-house art team produces a design proof — built from satellite and survey data, refined to your neighborhood, or rendered from your supplied vector file. You see it on screen, mocked onto your actual window. We revise until it’s exactly what you want. Then we plot the master file.

A precision plotter laser-cutting an intricate city map from cream-toned adhesive vinyl film — focused red beam tracing a street grid, hands of an operator just visible at the edge. Week 4 of a WindowMaps commission.
03.

The plot

Your design is laser-cut from premium adhesive film in our facility. Every line accurate to the millimeter. Translucent grades for light-passing windows, opaque grades for privacy, specialty films for very large or detailed work. The plot is produced once.

A WindowMaps specialist applying a vinyl city map to a tall sash window — half installed showing a detailed street grid, squeegee mid-stroke, morning light through the glass, cream interior. Week 5 of a WindowMaps commission.
04.

The installation

A certified WindowMaps specialist arrives at your home. The window is cleaned, measured, the film applied, bubbles worked out, edges sealed. Two hours, on average. You’re left with the window you wanted.

Application warranty

Installed by us.
Guaranteed by us.

A WindowMaps commission is two things: a piece of art and a precise application. We stand behind both.

When a WindowMaps commission is installed by one of our certified specialists, the installation is warranted for three years against bubbling, lifting, peeling, or edge failure. If any of these occur within that period, we return and remediate at no cost.

The warranty applies only to installations performed by our certified network. Clients who choose to apply the artwork themselves, or who use an outside installer, receive the same beautiful artwork — but the application warranty does not extend to self- or third-party installation. We discourage DIY application: the laser-cut film is unforgiving of error, and reapplication is rarely possible.

Installation network

Installed,
worldwide.

Our application specialists are sourced from professional sticker, vehicle wrap, and architectural film shops in major metropolitan areas across Europe, North America, and Asia — and growing.

i.

Within our network

If you’re in a major metro across Europe, North America, or Asia, we likely already have a certified specialist nearby. Installation is included in your commission price.

ii.

Outside the network

We source and certify a local specialist for your project. There may be a small travel surcharge depending on region; we’ll discuss this transparently during the conversation phase.

iii.

Our certification

Every installer in our network has been vetted, trained on our laser-cut film, and is bound by our application warranty. We don’t hand the artwork to anyone we haven’t personally certified.

iv.

One of one

If you request your commission as a true one-of-one, we’ll honor that and never reproduce the artwork. We do reserve the right to display finished installations on our website and marketing — with no identifying details if you prefer.
